PROJECT AND VACANCIES ICAR-NBPGR invites eligible candidates for a physical walk-in interview under the externally funded National Mission on High Yielding Seeds (NMHYS), Plant Quarantine Field Facility (Lead Centre) component. There is one Senior Research Fellow vacancy and two Laboratory Assistant vacancies: three posts in total. These are temporary project positions, not regular institute appointments. The project is stated to run up to 31 March 2027, with continuation subject to ICAR approval. POST-WISE QUALIFICATIONS For SRF, the first route is a master's degree in Science in Plant Pathology, Entomology, Nematology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Plant Genetic Resources or Life Sciences, together with a four- or five-year bachelor's degree. The alternative route is a postgraduate qualification in Basic Sciences with relevant specialisation, a three-year bachelor's degree and two-year master's degree, NET qualification and two years of relevant research experience. Experience in molecular detection of plant pathogens/pests and growing crops in a greenhouse is desirable. For Laboratory Assistant, BSc or a graduate degree in Science is essential; experience in agriculture, biotechnology laboratories, plant protection or crop growing is desirable. AGE AND REMUNERATION The stated upper ages are 35 years for SRF and 50 years for Laboratory Assistant. The notice provides relaxations for women, SC/ST, OBC, persons with disabilities and other eligible categories under government/ICAR rules. SRF remuneration is ₹37,000 plus HRA for the first two years and ₹42,000 plus HRA in the third year, subject to the applicable project conditions. Laboratory Assistants receive ₹20,000 plus HRA. The higher SRF rate does not guarantee three years of employment. The published interview times are 9:30 AM for SRF and 2:00 PM for Laboratory Assistant.
